Unanderra, NSW

Nestled in Unanderra, the Berkeley Pioneer Cemetery is among the Illawarra region's oldest burial sites. Established in 1862 by William Warren Jenkins, it serves as the final resting place for several generations of the Jenkins family. Notably, the cemetery houses the graves of Robert and Jemima Jenkins, who were relocated here in 1901 after the construction of Sydney's Central Station. Recognized for its heritage significance, the cemetery is maintained by the Wollongong City Council and the dedicated Berkeley Pioneer Cemetery Restoration Group, who have enhanced its landscape and preserved its monuments.
