Nestled along Mambray Creek in South Australia's Mount Remarkable National Park, Baroota Cemetery is a historic site that offers a glimpse into the region's pastoral past. Accessible via the Baroota Hike trail, the cemetery is approximately a 6 km return walk from the Day Visitor Area car park. The trail meanders through red river gums and native pine forests, leading visitors to the cemetery and the nearby Baroota Homestead Ruins. Established in 1851, the Baroota Run was a significant sheep station until the Great 1860s Drought. The cemetery features graves from both the station and farming eras, including those of Henry Hobbs (1876), John Salter (1863), Charles Jones (1874), Johann Raneberg (1883), his wife Maria (1894), and William Spencer (1891) and his wife Mary (1901). This serene location provides a poignant connection to the area's early history and the challenges faced by its early settlers.
