Barabba is a rural locality in South Australia's Mid North region, situated between Mallala and Hamley Bridge along the Light River's north bank. The area encompasses the former government town of Aliceburgh, established in 1879 and named after Governor William Jervois' daughter, Alice. The name 'Barabba' originates from an Aboriginal term for an indigenous bulrush plant. Over time, the population has declined significantly, with 99 residents recorded in 2016. Today, Barabba is characterized by its expansive rural landscapes and historical significance.
