Alexanders Hut campground

Nestled at the edge of a forested plain, Alexanders Hut campground offers a serene retreat in South East Forest National Park. This secluded site accommodates a single group, providing a peaceful setting for camping. Adjacent to the historic Alexanders Hut, built for early cattlemen, the campground features picnic tables, barbecue facilities, and non-flush toilets. Visitors can explore the Nunnock Swamp and Grasslands walking tracks, which showcase diverse flora and fauna, including rare and threatened species. The area also offers opportunities for birdwatching, horse riding, and 4WD adventures. Please note, camping with horses requires a permit. While the hut serves as an emergency shelter, it is primarily for day use. A $6 booking fee applies, with no additional camping fees.
