The AGL Wallumbilla Process Plant, located in Wallumbilla South, Queensland, is a gas processing facility that has been operational since 1984. AGL Energy acquired the plant from Santos in April 2011. In June 2020, AGL commissioned a world-first Capstone C1000S microturbine at the facility, utilizing excess butane to generate electricity. This innovation supports the plant's power requirements and exports excess power to the local electric utility grid. The plant also underwent significant upgrades to its fire safety systems in 2014, enhancing protection for LPG storage tanks and associated equipment.
