Nestled along Aberglasslyn Road in Aberglasslyn, New South Wales, Aberglasslyn House is a heritage-listed residence and former boarding school. Designed by architect John Verge and constructed between 1840 and 1842, this incomplete two-storey early Victorian house overlooks a bend in the Hunter River. Built from finely worked Ravensfield sandstone with a slate roof, the house features a central square hall with a geometric staircase beneath a hemispherical dome. Despite its unfinished state due to the early 1840s financial depression, Aberglasslyn House remains a significant example of colonial architecture in Australia.
