Aberdeen Highland Games

The Aberdeen Highland Games, held annually on the first Saturday in July, celebrate Scottish and Celtic heritage in the Upper Hunter Valley. The 2025 event is scheduled for Saturday, July 5th, at Jefferson Park, Aberdeen. Attendees can enjoy a parade of bands, clan representatives, and the Massed Band Salute, followed by the Chieftain’s Address. Throughout the day, there are Highland and Country Dancing, Pipe Band displays, Strong Man events featuring the Kilted Warriors, and novelty activities like three-legged races and the Kilted Dash. A variety of stalls offer Scottish heirlooms, souvenirs, clothing, and food. The evening concludes with a Pipe Band Quintet competition at the Aberdeen RSL Club. Camping sites are available at Jefferson Park, with facilities including toilets and showers. Aberdeen is approximately a 2-hour drive from Newcastle and 3.5 hours from Sydney.
