Designed by the architectural firm Butler and Ussher, it features a long single-storey gabled structure with a distinctly Australian character. The homestead includes a stable block and coach house, all set on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding plains with views of the Grampian Ranges. The property has been in the Ritchie family since its construction and remains a significant example of nineteenth-century Australian architecture.
