Woronora Dam, constructed between 1927 and 1941, is a heritage-listed concrete gravity dam located approximately 50 kilometers south of Sydney. It serves as a vital water supply for communities south of the Georges River and parts of the Illawarra region. The dam features a serpentine spillway and a 66-meter-high, 390-meter-long wall, creating a reservoir with a capacity of 71,790 megaliters and a surface area of 380 hectares. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas, walking trails, and panoramic views of the lake and surrounding gorge. The site also retains historical elements from its 1930s construction, including workers' cottages and original machinery.
