The Moonta Branch of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) is located approximately 4.5 kilometers southeast of Moonta on Arthurton Road. Established in 1980 with just six members, the club has grown to include 90 members, encompassing 11 women and 6 juniors. The facility features three ranges: a 200-meter main range, and 100-meter pistol and rimfire/silhouette/3P ranges. Amenities include a clubhouse, toilets, and a camping area. The club offers a variety of shooting disciplines, including handgun and rifle silhouette, field rifle, 3-position, benchrest, and shotgun. Regular shooting sessions are held on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7:00 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm. The club is committed to introducing young people to the sport and fostering their skills, providing equipment such as air rifles, rimfire rifles, air pistols, and shotguns for visitors to try their hand at shooting. Notable members include Will Godward, who has represented Australia at World Cups, Oceania Championships, and the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and Brenton Pollard, who has competed internationally and was a reserve for the Sydney Olympics. The club's focus on community and skill development makes it a welcoming environment for both seasoned shooters and newcomers.
