Pooginook Conservation Park, established in 1970, spans 2,851 hectares of mallee scrub and low sand dunes in South Australia's Riverland region. The northern area features dense mallee scrub, providing shelter to kangaroos, echidnas, hairy-nosed wombats, fat-tailed dunnarts, and the rare malleefowl. The southern section, once used for wheat farming, now showcases open mallee. The park offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, with sightings of black-eared miners, honeyeaters, and other colorful mallee birds. During spring, a variety of colorful mallee plants bloom. The campground is accessible to conventional vehicles, though some boundary roads require 4WD.
