Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC) is an Aṉangu-led organisation dedicated to enhancing education for Aṉangu children in South Australia's remote communities. Established in 1992, PYEC collaborates with ten schools across the APY Lands, Yalata, and Oak Valley, ensuring that education is both culturally relevant and effective. Their vision is for Aṉangu children to be strong in their learning, Kurunpa (spirit), and Tjukurpa (connection to country), with Aṉangu leading in education alongside Piṟanpa (non-Indigenous) partners. PYEC's strategic goals include empowering Aṉangu as educators, fostering bilingual learning, and integrating Aṉangu culture and language into all educational aspects. Through initiatives like the Aṉangu Resource Development Unit, PYEC produces teaching resources that reflect Aṉangu perspectives, supporting students in both Aṉangu and Piṟanpa ways.
