Pelican Lagoon Conservation Park, established in 1967, spans 449 hectares on the eastern end of Kangaroo Island, approximately 20 km southwest of Penneshaw. The park encompasses a variety of habitats, including mallee, coastal white mallee, swamp paper-bark, coast daisy bush, and coast beard-heath. It is home to 127 bird species, such as the bar-tailed godwit, common greenshank, bush stone-curlew, superb fairywren, red wattlebird, and silvereye. The park also features several islands within Pelican Lagoon, including Rabbit Islet, Bird Islet, Goanna Islet, Pig Islet, Wallaby Islet, and Shag Rock.
