Oombulgurri, once a vibrant Aboriginal community in Western Australia's Kimberley region, now stands as a remote locality with a rich history. Established in 1913 as the Forrest River Mission, it was inhabited by the Yeidji people, who now identify as Balanggarra. In 2011, the Western Australian government encouraged residents to relocate, deeming the community unsustainable. Today, Oombulgurri has a population of 27, as per the 2021 census. The area is accessible via a challenging 4WD track from Homevale Station on the Gibb River Road, requiring permits for entry.
