Price on enquiry
New Norcia, Australia's only monastic town, offers a unique blend of history, culture, and spirituality. Founded in 1847 by Spanish Benedictine monks, it features a Museum and Art Gallery showcasing European religious art, contemporary Australian works, and Aboriginal artefacts. Guided town tours depart daily at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, excluding Good Friday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day, providing insights into the town's rich heritage. Visitors can also join the monks in their private chapel for prayer, experience monastic hospitality, and explore the Mission Cottage Interpretation Centre to learn about the Aboriginal families that lived and worked at New Norcia. The New Norcia Heritage Riverwalk offers a 2 km trail along the Moore River, suitable for all walkers. The Museum and Art Gallery is open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
