Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve, established in 1961, is Australia's second-oldest nature reserve, rich in Aboriginal heritage and natural beauty. Located 35 km northeast of Mudgee, it features striking sandstone pagoda formations best viewed from the lookout along the Castle Rocks walk. This 8.5 km return trail offers scenic views and a chance to spot over 160 bird species, including the rare regent honeyeater. The Moolarben picnic area provides facilities for relaxation, with opportunities to observe wildlife such as emus and eastern grey kangaroos.
