Mary Hutchinson Women's Prison, situated within the Risdon Prison Complex in Risdon Vale, Tasmania, accommodates female prisoners and remandees. The facility features a Mother Baby Unit, allowing mothers to care for their children during incarceration. Recent upgrades have expanded capacity and improved care for aging and disabled inmates. The Dr Vanessa Goodwin Cottages, named in honor of the late Attorney General, include two new accommodation units and a 5-bed Mother Baby Unit with a crèche and outdoor play area. The prison offers various rehabilitation programs, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, to support inmates' reintegration into the community.
