Leichhardt Oval, located at 68 Mary Street, Lilyfield NSW 2040, is a historic sporting venue in Sydney's inner west, renowned for its rich rugby league heritage. The oval hosts various football codes, including rugby league, rugby union, and soccer, and serves as a boutique training venue for high-level sporting teams. In 2025, the Inner West Council opened the oval to public access as a park, allowing residents to enjoy picnics and leisure activities on Wayne Pearce Hill during weekdays. The council has also proposed Leichhardt Oval as a permanent hub for women's sport, aiming to nurture the next generation of athletes. A $40 million upgrade, funded by the Commonwealth, State, and local governments, is planned to enhance facilities, including new female-friendly change rooms and increased seating capacity, ensuring the venue's future as a community and sporting hub.
