Lake Gilles Conservation Park, located approximately 20 kilometers east of Kimba on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, offers a serene retreat into a semi-arid mallee landscape. The park features a saline lake encircled by low sandy rises, gypsum dunes, and isolated stony hills, creating a tranquil environment ideal for birdwatching. The Eyre Highway traverses the park, providing 2WD access to the lake; however, the northern area adjacent to Lake Gilles is accessible only by 4WD. Self-sufficient bush camping is permitted within the park, with no facilities provided. Camping is free, and no online bookings are required.
