Kanyaka Station

Kanyaka Station, established in 1852 by Hugh Proby, was once a thriving cattle and sheep station in South Australia's Flinders Ranges. The station's main homestead featured 16 rooms with 46 cm thick stone walls, accommodating up to 70 workers and their families. The complex included a stable, harness room, woolshed, and overseer's cottage. Severe droughts led to its abandonment, but the stone structures remain as ruins, offering a glimpse into the area's pioneering past. The site is now listed on the South Australian Heritage Register.
