Inneston, located on the south-western tip of Yorke Peninsula, is a historic locality renowned for its gypsum mining heritage. Established in 1927, the town flourished with a population of about 150, featuring amenities like a public hall, butcher, baker, bank, and post office. Mining operations included a plaster factory built in 1916 and a chalk factory opened in 1922. The town was abandoned in the 1930s, and today, visitors can explore the well-preserved ruins and enjoy the serene coastal environment within the protected Dhilba Guuranda–Innes National Park.
