Coomalie Creek Airfield, established in 1942, served as a pivotal Royal Australian Air Force base during World War II. Located near Darwin in the Northern Territory, it hosted No. 31 Squadron with Beaufighters and No. 1 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit, which later became No. 87 Squadron. The airfield endured multiple Japanese air raids between 1942 and 1943. Today, the site features a restored chapel, rebuilt in 1992, and a commemorative plaque honoring the 31 Squadron's contributions. The airfield remains a testament to Australia's wartime heritage.
