The Argyle Homestead Museum, located 70 km south of Kununurra at Lake Argyle, offers a captivating glimpse into the lives of Kimberley's early pioneers. Visitors can explore the 1890s homestead of the Durack family, renowned for their pioneering cattle station. The museum showcases artifacts, photographs, and exhibits detailing the Duracks' arduous two-year journey from Queensland to establish the region's first cattle station. The homestead, originally built in 1894-95, was meticulously relocated stone by stone in the 1970s to its current site before the area was submerged by Lake Argyle. Managed by the Kununurra Visitor Centre, the museum is open daily from April to September, offering a unique historical experience.
