Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) is a vast Aboriginal community in northwest South Australia, encompassing over 100,000 square kilometers. Established in 1981, APY is governed by the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Land Rights Act, granting inalienable freehold title to its traditional owners. The community comprises several settlements, including Amata, Indulkana, Mimili, and Pukatja (Ernabella), with Umuwa serving as the administrative center. Anangu people primarily speak Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, dialects of the Western Desert language, and are renowned for their rich cultural heritage, including art, music, and traditional practices.
