Established in 1958, the A.C.T. Companion Dog Club is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization located at the corner of Jerrabomberra Avenue and Narrabundah Lane in Symonston, ACT 2609. As Canberra's first dog training club, it offers a variety of behavior and dog sports training classes from February to November each year, including Agility, Dances With Dogs, Flyball, Obedience Trialling, Rally, Tracking, and Tricks. The club emphasizes rewards-based, force-free training methods rooted in contemporary canine behavioral science, aiming to transform dogs into well-behaved companions through positive reinforcement techniques. Members also participate in community-oriented programs and regular trials and race meets, fostering responsible ownership and enhancing the human-canine bond in Canberra.
