Murchison House Station, established in 1858, is one of Western Australia's oldest pastoral stations, offering a unique outback experience just 12 kilometers east of Kalbarri. The 350,000-acre property features over 60 kilometers of rugged Indian Ocean coastline and 30 kilometers of Murchison River floodplains. Visitors can camp along the riverbank or, for those with 4WD vehicles, bush camp on the station's northern side. The homestead, set among large river gum trees, provides a tranquil setting for guests. The station is home to abundant wildlife, including kangaroos, emus, and the northernmost breeding colony of rare Carnaby's Cockatoos. Guests can explore the diverse terrain, from coastal sand plains to river gorges featuring stunning red Tumblagooda sandstone. The station offers various tours, including historic homestead walks with morning tea, 4WD quad-bike adventures, and canoeing on the Murchison River. Open from April to October, Murchison House Station provides a genuine outback experience where the wilderness meets the ocean.
