The Araluen Cultural Precinct in Alice Springs is a vibrant hub for art, culture, and history, offering a rich experience set amidst significant Arrernte sites. The Araluen Arts Centre, at its heart, features four galleries and a 500-seat theatre, presenting an annual program of exhibitions, theatre, and film, including the nationally significant Desert Mob. The Araluen Art Collection is one of the most important in Australia, showcasing Aboriginal artworks that trace the history of art development in Central Australia and the Western Desert art movement. The precinct also houses the Museum of Central Australia, the Strehlow Research Centre, the Central Australian Aviation Museum, Central Craft, and the Yeperenye Sculpture, a significant public artwork celebrating the Yeperenye caterpillar, central to the Arrernte people's creation stories. Visitors can also enjoy Yaye's Café and explore sacred sites like the 300-year-old corkwood tree.
