Waranga Basin, located between the Goulburn and Campaspe River basins, is Victoria's fourth-largest inland waterway. Situated 8 km northeast of Rushworth and 12 km southwest of Tatura, it was formed on the site of the natural wetland formerly known as Waranga or Gunn's Swamp. Today, it serves as a family-friendly destination, supplying irrigation and domestic water to the region. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing for species like Redfin, Murray Spiny Crayfish, Murray Cod, Trout, and Golden Perch, as well as boating and water sports. While camping is prohibited on the foreshore, nearby accommodations include the Lake Waranga Caravan Park and Holiday Camp. The area also offers picnic spots, public boat ramps, and trails for walking, birdwatching, and cycling. Please be aware of local regulations, including a 5-knot speed limit within 50 meters of the shoreline and restrictions on camping and campfires.
