Fosterville Gold Mine

Fosterville Gold Mine, situated approximately 20 kilometers east of Bendigo, Victoria, is the state's largest gold producer. Operated by Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, the mine has been in operation since 2005, extracting over 4.4 million ounces of gold. In 2024, it produced 225,203 ounces of gold at a cost of $653 per ounce. The mine employs over 800 people, many of whom are local residents, and is a significant contributor to the regional economy. In May 2025, the Victorian government approved an expansion project, expected to inject $1.3 billion into the local economy over the next decade and increase employment to over 1,000 workers.
