Established in 1957, Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to aquatic safety services along the Great Ocean Road. Operating solely on funds from sponsorships, grants, donations, and membership fees, the club patrols the beach between Split Point in Aireys Inlet and Spouts Creek in Eastern View. The Nippers Program, catering to children aged 5 to 12, teaches surf awareness, safety, first aid, and rescue techniques, fostering personal growth and community engagement. The club also offers training courses, operates the Sunset Lounge bar and meals, and hosts events, contributing to the local community's well-being.
