Mount Werong Campground, nestled in the Southern Blue Mountains area of Blue Mountains National Park, offers a serene retreat for nature enthusiasts. Accessible via an unsealed road suitable for 2WD vehicles, the campground provides picnic tables, barbecue facilities, and non-flush toilets. Visitors can explore the 2.5 km Ruby Creek walking track, which showcases remnants of the historic Ruby Creek Mine, or embark on the 4WD Oberon-Colong historic stock route to the nearby Yerranderie Private Town. The area is rich in Aboriginal and European heritage, with the Gundungurra and Wiradjuri People being the traditional custodians. Please note, there are no marked sites, and visitors are encouraged to arrive well-prepared for the remote setting. Firewood is not provided, so bringing your own is essential. Rubbish bins are not available; please take all rubbish with you upon departure. Camping fees are waived, but a $6 booking fee applies. The campground is approximately 1200 meters above sea level, where weather conditions can be extreme and unpredictable.
