Terry Hie Hie Aboriginal Area, established in 2005, comprises six significant cultural reserves scattered around the township of Terry Hie Hie. Once a vital ceremonial and gathering place for the Gamilaroi (Gomeroi, Gamileroi, Gamileraay) People, the area features at least 240 axe-grinding grooves, a corroboree ground, a bora ring, carved and scarred trees, and two Aboriginal cemeteries. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, birdwatching, and walking along the Yana-y Warruwi track through cypress pine and silver leaf ironbark woodlands. Educational programs offer insights into the language, history, and culture of the Gamilaroi People.
