Located 120 kilometers southwest of Mackay in Queensland's Bowen Basin, Hail Creek Open Cut Mine is a significant coal operation producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for export. The mine employs approximately 1,090 individuals and has a saleable product output of 8.2 million tonnes. Coal is transported 100 kilometers by rail to the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal for export. Glencore holds an 84.67% stake in the mine, with Marubeni and Sumitomo owning 12% and 3.33%, respectively. The mine is committed to community engagement, supporting initiatives like the Mackay Health District Emergency Education Program and CQ Rescue Helicopter.
