Nestled among bloodwood and silvertop ash trees, Barren Grounds Picnic Area offers a tranquil retreat away from the crowds. Ideal for family outings or a scenic stop along Jamberoo Pass, it features picnic tables and non-flush toilets. The area is accessible via unsealed roads suitable for 2WD vehicles. Visitors can enjoy various walking tracks, including the Illawarra Lookout for dramatic coastal views, and the Cooks Nose and Griffiths tracks through rich heathlands. The reserve is also a haven for birdwatchers, with around 180 species, including honeyeaters and southern emu wrens. Please note, pets are not permitted, and smoking is prohibited within the reserve.
