Tolderol Game Reserve, established in 1970, spans 428 hectares on the north-western shore of Lake Alexandrina. This protected area features a series of man-made open and shallow basins connected by channels and levee banks, allowing for controlled water levels that create rich foraging habitats for migratory wader birds. The reserve is renowned among birdwatchers, with reed beds, grassy banks, and shallow basins attracting a diverse array of waterfowl and migratory wader species. A designated area permits a short duck hunting open season, depending on seasonal conditions.
