Galiwin'ku Women's Space, established in 2015, is the only dedicated support and empowerment center for women on Elcho Island. Led by Yolŋu women and supported by the broader community, it offers crisis accommodation, case management, and outreach services to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. The center combines Yolŋu and Balanda (non-Yolŋu) approaches to provide culturally safe and effective support. Its mission is to stop the cycle of violence and create a stronger, safer community by empowering women to support each other's healing and well-being.
