Dorre Island

Dorre Island, located in the Shark Bay World Heritage area of Western Australia, is part of the Bernier and Dorre Island Nature Reserve. The island, named after Peter Dorre, the pilot of the Dutch vessel Eendracht in 1616, has a rich history, including its use as a lock hospital in the early 1900s. Notably, Daisy Bates, known as Kabbarli (grandmother), was associated with Dorre Island. Today, Dorre Island remains uninhabited, offering a serene and untouched environment for nature enthusiasts and historians alike.
