Rye Park Wind Farm, located near Yass in New South Wales, is the state's largest wind energy project, boasting a capacity of 396 megawatts. The farm comprises 66 Vestas turbines, each with a 6 MW capacity, generating enough electricity to power approximately 215,000 homes annually. This clean energy initiative significantly reduces carbon emissions, offsetting around 960,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year. A substantial portion of the energy produced is supplied to Newcrest Mining's Cadia gold mine under a long-term agreement, while the remainder contributes to the state's power grid, enhancing the reliability and sustainability of New South Wales' energy supply.
