The Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC) is an Aṉangu-led organisation dedicated to empowering Aṉangu communities through quality education. Operating across the APY Lands, Maralinga Tjarutja, and Yalata Lands, PYEC ensures that Aṉangu children receive education that honours their cultural identity and connection to the land. Their vision is for Aṉangu children to be strong in their learning, Kurunpa (spirit), and Tjukurpa (connection to country), with Aṉangu taking the lead in education alongside Piṟanpa (non-Indigenous) partners. PYEC's programs include the NETT Kunpuntjaku school attendance strategy, the Aṉangu Resource Development Unit (ARDU) for bilingual learning resources, and initiatives like the Junior Ranger Program and sports activities that promote health and community engagement. By integrating Aṉangu knowledge, culture, and languages into education, PYEC fosters a two-way learning environment that prepares students for success in both Aṉangu and Piṟanpa contexts.
