Mangoola Coal, situated in the Wybong area of New South Wales, is a significant open-cut coal operation producing thermal coal for both export and domestic markets. Located approximately 20 kilometers west of Muswellbrook and 10 kilometers north of Denman, the mine has been operational since 2010 and is 100% owned and operated by Glencore. In 2020, Mangoola Open Cut celebrated 10 years of operation and has mined over 100 million tonnes of the coal reserve. In April 2021, the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project was granted development consent, enabling the extraction of an additional 52 million tonnes of coal through to the end of 2030.
