Jones Store, constructed in the mid-1930s, stands as one of the oldest surviving structures in historic Newcastle Waters. Built from corrugated iron, bamboo, and earth, it served as a vital hub for drovers traversing the Murranji, Barkly, and north-south stock routes. The store offered essential services, including provisions, butchery, bakery, and saddlery. After restoration, it became a museum showcasing the life of outback drovers and the history of Newcastle Waters. Visitors can explore the museum year-round through self-guided tours with interpretive signage.
