Avon Valley National Park, established in 1970, spans approximately 4,800 hectares in Western Australia's Darling Range, about 80 kilometers northeast of Perth. The park features diverse landscapes, including granite outcrops, jarrah and marri forests, and wandoo woodlands, offering panoramic views over the Avon Valley. It's home to over 90 bird species and a variety of wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, chuditch, and echidnas. Springtime brings an array of wildflowers, including native orchids. Visitors can enjoy bushwalking, canoeing on the Avon River, and camping at basic facilities with picnic tables and pit toilets. The park is accessible via unsealed roads, and the best times to visit are during the cooler months.
