Avon Valley National Park, situated approximately 80 kilometers northeast of Perth, spans about 4,800 hectares and serves as a serene transition between the southern jarrah forests and the drier northern regions. The park features granite outcrops offering panoramic views over the Avon Valley, deep river and stream valleys, and native forests of jarrah, marri, and wandoo trees. It's a haven for birdwatching, with over 90 species, and wildflower enthusiasts, especially during spring. Camping facilities include basic amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, and pit toilets. Access roads within the park are unsealed, and there is no vehicle access to the river. The best times to visit are during the cooler months, as summer conditions can be very hot and dry.
