Apsley Gorge, nestled within Tasmania's Douglas-Apsley National Park, offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and adventure. The Apsley River meanders through deep gorges and forms tranquil waterholes, including the popular Apsley Waterhole, ideal for swimming. The Apsley River Waterhole and Gorge walk is a 7 km loop that begins with a gentle stroll through open woodland, leading to the serene Apsley Waterhole. The track then ascends through dry, open forest before descending to the river at Apsley Gorge. In dry conditions, it's possible to return via the river, making it a circuit walk. The park is also home to diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered Australian grayling fish. Visitors can enjoy bush camping at designated sites near the Apsley Waterhole, accessible via a short walk from the car park. A valid parks pass is required for entry to Tasmania's national parks.
