The Mintaro Institute, established in 1878, serves as the heart of Mintaro's social and cultural life. Originally built as a community hub, it was linked to the former council chambers in 1942, creating a unified building. Extensive renovations in 1988, as part of a Bicentennial Project, have preserved its historical significance. Today, the Institute hosts various community events and houses a free Book Exchange, open Friday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. Its central location on Burra Street makes it a focal point for both residents and visitors.
