Mangkaja Arts Resource Agency Aboriginal Corporation
Mangkaja Arts Resource Agency, located in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia, is an Aboriginal-owned art centre representing five language groups from the Fitzroy Valley. Established in 1981, it began as part of the Karrayili Adult Education Centre, providing a space for local people to learn English and express their personal stories through art. The centre is renowned for its vibrant, uninhibited style and lively use of colour, with artists painting images of country that share stories of culture and identity. Artists work across various mediums, including acrylics, printmaking, traditional artefact making, carving, and basket weaving. Mangkaja Arts is a not-for-profit Aboriginal corporation supporting economic, social, and cultural development for over 200 Indigenous artists and their families. The centre functions as a fine art gallery, specialty store, and studio space for artists to create and showcase their work. Artists from Mangkaja Arts have been featured in major art prizes and are represented in national and international collections.
