Low Isles Light, established in 1878, is Queensland's first lighthouse, guiding ships through the Great Barrier Reef's Inner Passage. Perched on Low Island, it features a 60-foot conical tower with a red lantern dome, constructed from timber and galvanized iron. The lighthouse operates a VRB-25 rotating beacon, emitting a white flash every ten seconds, visible up to 17 nautical miles. Managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the island is accessible by boat, offering visitors a glimpse into maritime history amidst a vibrant coral reef ecosystem.
