Located approximately 200 km east of Esperance within the Nuytsland Nature Reserve, the Israelite Bay Telegraph Station was established in 1876 as part of the Overland Telegraph Line connecting Western Australia and South Australia. Designed by George Temple Poole, the station's stone buildings were completed in 1896. Operational until 1917, it played a crucial role in facilitating swift communication across the region. Today, the station's ruins, including Dimer's Cottage, Brook's Cottage, and Cook's Cottage, stand as a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of early settlers. Access is via 4WD only, with the last 80 km taking approximately two hours due to road conditions.
