Bluff Knoll, the highest peak in Western Australia's Stirling Range National Park, rises 1,098 meters above sea level, offering hikers a challenging 6.8-kilometer return trail with breathtaking 360-degree views. The journey begins at the southern end of the Bluff Knoll car park, descending to a creek before ascending the mountainside to a saddle with vistas over the south coast. The trail then follows a ridge to the summit, traversing eucalypt woodlands and exposed rock outcrops that reveal ancient sedimentary layers. The area is also home to over 1,500 plant species, including the Queen of Sheba orchid and mountain bells. Visitors should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions and are advised to check for alerts and road closures before visiting.
