Bábbarra Women's Centre

Bábbarra Women's Centre, located in Maningrida, Northern Territory, is a vibrant hub where women from over 12 language groups unite to share knowledge and creativity. Established in 1987, the centre's primary enterprise, Bábbarra Designs, specializes in hand-printed textiles that narrate the ancestral stories of Arnhem Land. These unique fabrics are crafted using linocut block prints and screen printing techniques, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. The centre also operates an op shop and supports women artists in remote homeland outstations, fostering economic independence and cultural preservation.
